Welcome to Mayes County Treasurer's Office

This website is for the convenience of our taxpayers, but if you have any questions or concerns please contact our office.  Thank you for allowing me to serve as your County Treasurer.

ATTENTION:  In a March 24th letter from Gov. Kevin Stitt and State Auditor Cindy Byrd, both officials requested that all County Treasurers effectively extend the deadline for second half tax payments from March 31, 2020 to April 30, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Taxpayers who have already paid their first half payment will have until May 15, 2020 to pay their second half payment without a penalty.

Taxes can be paid in full or in 2 installments.  The full amount or first half must be paid by December 31st.  The second half must be paid by March 31st.  If at least one-half of the tax bill is not paid by December 31st the entire tax bill becomes delinquent and accumulates 1.5% interest per month beginning January 16th.  If the second half of the tax bill is not paid by March 31st, the unpaid amount becomes delinquent and accumulates 1.5% interest per month beginning April 16th.

EXCEPTIONS:  Mortgage servicers must pay the tax bill for all accounts they are servicing in full by December 31st.

Mortgage Tax must be paid on every mortgage before it can be recorded in the County Clerk’s Office.  The mortgagor, the mortgagee or any other interested party may pay the mortgage tax.  SA&I Form No. 443, Mortgage Tax Information, must accompany any mortgage document presented to the County Treasurer for payment of the mortgage tax.  In addition to the mortgage tax, the County Treasurer must also collect a $5.00 certification fee on each mortgage presented.  You can click on the “Mortgage Tax Calculator” above to figure the amount of mortgage tax due on a mortgage.

While the Treasurer's office makes every effort to ensure the correctness, any error contained herein does not constitute a waiver of any tax amounts by or for the County Treasurer's office or the Taxpayer.
